| About this project: |
swisspanorama360 is a collection of panoramic view images of Switzerland's mountains and landscapes.
The image files are in JPEG format of size 6283 x 1047 pixels, each about 0.5 to 1.5 MB large.
The images are computer-generated from free, open data (satellite images, elevation data, mountain peak names). |

The panoramas were created based on freely available and usable open data sets. Many thanks to:

| Accuracy: |
The panoramas give a realistic 360-degrees view of the medium and long distance;
however, they do not show details at short distance, such as trees or buildings.
Pixel size (from satellite images) is 10 meters. Elevations are approximately +/-20 m accurate.
Peak name positions may deviate several hundred meters, since locations in the data source are only 1 km accurate.
Panoramas are computed for a range up to 300 km.
Using WGS84 and ECEF-ENU-polar projection to avoid angle error of CH1903 and account for earth curvature
and precise azimuth angles. |
